The next tier of LG smartwatches will be very different. Their next smartwatches will be LTE connected. Just like the Samsung Gear S, it will not be coming included with Android Wear. The LG G Watch Urbane may not come with LTE but the Urbane LTE definitely will. While the original Urbane comes with the design, the LTE version will be bulkier, but still retain a sexy design. It will expand its capabilities with 4G VoLTE calls and will introduce LG’s proprietary wearable platform. While we have no clue what it will be called, we can definitely speculate the great use of the WebOS platform on the phone. There’s no reason why the company is ditching Android Wear in favor of their own OS, but my guess is that they are aiming heavily at the Samsung Gear S.
The LG G Watch will continue to be a smartwatch powerhouse. It will retain the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. However, the battery will be even bigger at 700 mAh. LG also increased the amount of RAM to 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM, meaning this little thing is packing some pretty serious specs for just a smartwatch. The LG G Watch Urbane LTE will be unveiled at this year’s MWC along side of other smartwatches.
